When you reinstall, select the license type, using the pre-2017 types: stand-alone or network. Note: For versions earlier than 2017, reinstall the software to change the license type. The process for changing or resetting your license differs according to software release:

  • You signed in to the Autodesk desktop app with an email address different from the one you used to get a subscription.
  • You used the software in trial mode and then got a subscription using a different email address.
  • You may need to get a new subscription rather than autorenewing the old one. Or you may have changed from a single-user (stand-alone) to a multi-user (network) license. For example, you may have changed from a perpetual license to a subscription license.
  • You changed the license type but didn’t change the license setting in the software.
  • To change the license type, first change the software licensing option. Given the significant changes and bugs introduced in macOS 10.15 Catalina, it looks like this is something no one at Autodesk bothered to test. You have a problem that forces you to reset the license type. The support article mentions anything newer than 2017 use v2 which makes me think it hasn't been updated since then. It appears the AdSS0-v2 package Autodesk package mentioned in the support article, the same one bundled with the Arnold for Cinema 4D installer, doesn't work with the current version of macOS.

    AUTODESK SIGN IN LICENSE PASSWORD

Remembering the username and password were entered and confirmed separately I entered my username, pressed enter, clicked around further down until the cursor again changed to a text input box, entered my password and pressed enter. On a hunch I started clicking around in the blank login window and eventually the arrow cursor turned to a text cursor, making me think the contents were there but not visible. I missed this the first time, but when I deleted the com.autodesk files from this folder it let me get back to the blank login window. Uninstall includes everything in /private/var/db/receipts/. The only way I could get back to the blank login window was to do a clean uninstall of everything Autodesk, reboot, and reinstall. Reinstalling AdSSO-v2 makes the problem worse by getting stuck earlier in the process, wanting to reinstall the AdSSO over and over. This support article describes the problem and provides a fix, but it doesn't work.
